Tea tree leaves produce numerous tea varieties (green tea, white tea, pu-ehr, black tea, etc.). The leaves and be harvested and fermented, oxidized, smoked, dried, or roasted to create different varieties of teas. The Tea Tree can also be grown and used to create bonsai trees or for ornamental purposes.

Tea tree seeds can be grown in zones 7,8, and 9. If you are in a zone with a shorter season (7 and below), these can be grown inside or in a container and brought in to overwinter. Those with a sunroom or greenhouse can also produce these in cooler zones. Tea trees make a great indoor tree, and you will want to ensure you have a south-facing window with adequate sun exposure. These can be grown in containers but must be repotted as the trees grow. If the tree has reached its ideal size, you won't need to transplant it into a larger container. If you are in zones 7,8 or 9, you can start these in containers and transplant them outdoors to a location with full sun. You will enjoy the tea tree at its full potential, producing healthy tea leaves for you year-round.
