Séance F1 Escarole seeds
Séance escarole is a broadleaf endive type green that produces considerably large heads of robust greens. Not only is this variety slow bolting, but once picked, it has an impressive shelf life. Séance escarole more than likely earned its name as the deep green leafy outer leaves covet a bright cream-colored tender heart at the center of each head, similar to a candle's glow.
The flavor is similar to that of radicchio, slightly bitter when consumed raw, but mild in flavor when cooked. The raw leaves are ideal for chicken salad or tuna salad wraps, salads, sandwiches, etc. These can be grown in containers but space accordingly as the heads can take up quite a bit of space.
Heads will grow to 12 inches or taller with the heads stretching 10-14 inches.
