Sunshine F1 Kabocha seeds
This delicious, flaky and meaty squash has an amazing flavor that is not commonly found in the red Kuri Kabocha. The meat inside has been described as buttery, flaky, nutty and sweet. Various sources have cited this particular squash as the sweetest there is! This squash is a vibrant orange to red color, with a flattened bottom and top. The skin is thin with little texture and tan to yellow stripes climbing up the sides. This variety entered the market around 2014.
This is the perfect Kabocha for gardeners with limited space as the vines only reach 6 to 8 feet and the small compact fruits are only 3-8 pounds which makes it ideal for trellising! This squash is best either mashed or baked with a light glaze of maple syrup and a little rosemary for a light and sweet Fall treat.
