Dills Atlantic Giant Pumpkin seeds
Have you ever wanted to break a world record for growing the largest pumpkin? It only takes a few seeds to try. This is the biggest pumpkin variety to date. Dill's Atlantic Giant pumpkin seeds were first patented in 1979 by Howard Dill, who then went on to set the world record, this event took place in 1980 with a 459 lb (208 kg) record. In 2016 the record was broken once again by Mathias Willemins from Belgium with a monstrous fruit of 2624.6 pounds.
Contrary to popular belief, this pumpkin is much larger than the popular Big Max (Big Mac). The big Max can get up to 200 pounds, where Dill's Atlantic can get over 2000 pounds! It's worth mentioning that this variety is the biggest available pumpkin variety to date. If you plan on growing one of these, get ready with the forklift!
These do need quite a bit of real estate to grow. The great thing about these is that you can choose to grow several large pumpkins, or trim the tertiary stems off as well as any blossoms after the first pumpkin starts to grow. The vine will dedicate all of its energy to the one pumpkin and you will end up with a very very large pumpkin.
If you have a farm or pumpkin patch, these can be grown for large displays for folks to take photos. If you are a home grower, grow these and see if you can't win money at a local pumpkin competition. If you have some power tools, you may also opt to create a huge Jack-O-Lantern for Halloween night.
These are smooth and buff to light orange in color. The vines can get up to 12 feet. These are edible despite their size. The flavor has been described as creamy and subtly sweet. You should have more than enough to share with everyone.
