Candy Roaster Squash seeds
This rare heirloom is a true treasure. This squash is unique with its banana shape, and pink skin with green striations that almost look like they were brushed on with watercolors. The Candy roaster was originally grown by the Cherokee Indians and can get up to 15 lbs and can grow the size of your arm.
The flavor has been said to change any prejudices some folks may have about not appreciating the "squash flavor" or texture. The flavor is somewhat pumpkin-like but extremely sweet. The Candy roaster can last at least 6 months, and the sugars will concentrate over time.
When roasted, this squash caramelizes extremely well due to its natural content. If you roast it brushed with oil or butter, the sugars in the flesh will actually form a candy-like crust. Think of it as a creme brulee in squash form. If blended with butter or dairy, it forms a sweet silky smooth texture. There aren't enough great things to say about this squash. It's unique, sweet, and has earned its name. Fruits can get up to 18" long and 6" wide.
