Alexandria Alpine Strawberry seeds

SKU: AS5143

These little gems have their roots deep in history. Alexandria alpine strawberries are extremely aromatic, very sweet, and perfect for snacking. These berries are twice the size of a blueberry, but significantly less than traditional market varieties of strawberries. They are a longer and more oblong shape than common strawberries as well. The Alexandria (Alexandria Alpine) dates all the way back to the stone age when seeds were discovered in Denmark and Switzerland via archeological digs.

The flowers of this plant are edible and have a very subtle strawberry flavor. These can be used for garnishes or salads.  This is a perennial variety so it can last in warmer climates. If you are in a cooler zone, you can overwinter them inside until the next spring. Although these are delicious, some extra patience is required to grow these. Once they sprout, you can potentially expect berries in late fall. Berries are more likely to be more abundant the following Spring. These produce runners, but it's far fewer than most other varieties. These are compact so they are great for containers, raised beds, and window boxes.

(*Suggested for intermediate to advanced growers/gardeners only. Strawberry seeds are temperamental and need optimal conditions to grow.
