Prizm Kale
Prizm kale is a popular hybrid variety that is compact, and generous. The leaves are densely pact leaves with smooth stalks. The flavor has been described as subtly sweet and slightly nutty. The younger the leaves, the sweeter the flavor.
These guys are compact, you can put them in anything from a raised bed to a 1-gallon container...ideal if you have limited space, live in an apartment, or have a small porch, or a small balcony.
Don't be fooled by its compact size however, this variety loads its stalk to capacity with generous clusters of leaves. As soon as they grow, you'll want to harvest the leaves from the bottom up, leaving the top of the plant to keep generating foliage.
These have a great shelf life in the refrigerator, and due to their hearty leaves, Prizm kale holds up well in the saute pan. It's frost tolerant and drought tolerant. Like all kales, this will die off during intense winter, and return one more time the following year to produce seed.
