The result of four decades of meticulous development by Dave Christensen in Montana, this maize variety stands out for its adaptability to cool northern and mountain climates with brief growing seasons, often challenged by hot summers and drought. Dave had harvested Peruvian Maiz Morada corn from the painted mountain and found the gene for the deep black-purple pigments in the corn. After 35 years, Dave had created a new variation of the popular Peruvian corn. Montana Maiz corn have longer, more slender cobs with smaller kernels. The soft, fine flour starch it yields is perfect for crafting high-nutrition cornbread and various other delectable foods.
