Crespo Squash seeds (treated)

SKU: 400761T

Grown every year on our property in Colorado Springs! The Crespo squash, also known as Zucca Crespo, is a remarkable vegetable hailing from the regions of Peru and Bolivia. It stands out as a unique and distinguished variety in the world of squashes, renowned for its exceptional texture and flavor, often described as having a gourmet quality that sets it apart from more common varieties.

This heirloom squash holds a special place in the history of squash cultivation. It is considered an origin variety, having paved the way for the development of other modern heirlooms such as the Marina Di Chioggia and Buen Gusto de Horno.

In essence, the Crespo squash serves as a precious heritage that has contributed to the diversity and flavors found in today's squash varieties. The exterior of the Crespo squash is characterized by its distinctive features. It boasts a rough, textured surface with subtle ribbing, and its skin is notably thick and substantial. This robust exterior not only adds to its visual appeal but also serves as a protective barrier for the delectable flesh within.

As for its appearance, the Crespo squash delights the eye with a color that ranges from vibrant green when mature, to rich aquamarine as its sun cures off the vine, adding a touch of natural beauty to any culinary creation. Its striking aesthetics make it a favorite choice for both culinary artists and home cooks who appreciate the fusion of exceptional taste and visual appeal.
