Cotton seeds (treated)

Cotton has so many different uses. These plants are extremely fun to grow and the good news for folks in colder regions is that they can be grown inside as well. 
 
Cotton belongs to the mallow family and is a shrub that can grow upwards of 5 feet. The entire plant can be used for various things. We are all familiar with cotton of course. Cotton can be grown to produce yarn, homemade cotton balls, etc. Meanwhile, the stems can be used to enrich the soil or broken down into a fibrous pulp used to make homemade paper and stationery.

Natural cotton grown on this shrub is more beautiful than the bleached kind available in mainstream markets. Cotton naturally grows in different shades of green, brown, and off-white. Prior to cotton forming on the fibrous stems of the shrub, you will be able to enjoy the immaculate yellow blooms this plant produces (see images above). Cotton is a perennial but in cooler climates, it's grown as an annual. You can, however, grow these in containers as long as the container is a 5-gallon or bigger.
